Clifton Observatory, Bristol

Clifton Observatory is a fomer mill, damaged by fire, purchased by William West in 1828. He then installed telescopes and a camera obscura which he opened the public in 1842. Fantastic views of the gorge and the surrounding area can be seen.

Obscura Legacies has visited the Clifton Observatory many times over the years.  The views on a bright sunny day are so clear and amaze me every time I visit.  The images below were taken on a sunny September day.
